To introduce into the world of the human past given notions of Archaeology in general and of Biblical Archaeology in particular.
ARGOMENTI
Course Outlines:
1. Archaeology in general: basic notions. Methodology. Chronology and study. 2. Biblical Archaeology. 3. Jewish Archaeology. 4. Christian Archaeology. 5. Archaeology in the Holy Land. Human habitation: villages and cities, walls and gates, ancient water systems, monuments, houses. Profane buildings: baths, theatre, amphitheatre, nymphaea, circus, odeon. Sacred sites: high places, temples, tombs, synagogues, mikvaoth. 6. Qumran. History and importance. Documents. 7. The Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the course, students are expected to demonstrate in writing the strengthening of their understanding of the historicity of the Gospels.
