ARGOMENTI

The course will focus on the structure, message, and theological themes of the Prophetic books of the Hebrew Bible. The students will learn how to read and appreciate the poetry and literary nature of prophetic texts. The participants will explore the theological significance of the prophetic books in the context of the Old Testament Canon, as well as their relationship to the New Testament. Finally, the students will continually be asked how these books provide challenge and guidance for the Church in today’s context. Main topics: Introduction to prophecy and prophets. The institution of a prophet in the Ancient Middle East. Prophetic canon. A study of selected prophetic books: historical background of the books and their message. Selected theological topics of the prophets. Various perspectives for reading the prophetic books. Spiritual and pastoral approach to the prophets. The influence of the prophetic message on the New Testament and Christianity.
