This course aims to help students to explore the historical development and present configuration of Pastoral Theology as a discipline in the field of Practical Theology from a Catholic perspective.

1. Pastoral action within the process of evangelization. 2. Practices of faith, discipleship, and ministry. 3. Pope Francis’ pastoral vision. 4. History of Pastoral Theology as a discipline in the Catholic milieu before the Second Vatican Council. 5. The “pastoral” Council. 6. Academic approaches and projects in Europe and USA. 7. Current understanding of Pastoral Theology: object of study, method, location, and relation to other specific areas of theological reflection. 8. Pastoral planning.
