The purpose of this course is to provide students with training in Catechetics and its use in evangelization.
General Introduction: Chief Aim, Catechetical Training in Seminaries. Short History. The General Catechetical Directory 1997. 1. Introduction. 2. Catechesi in the Church’s mission of evangelization. 3. The Gospel message. 4. The pedagogy of faith. 5. Those to be catechized. Catechesis in the particular Church. 6. Conclusion. Methodology – Making a sample lesson. Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course the student would have the ability to: Define and understand the role of Catechetics in the life of every Christian; Analyze and interpret the practical application of the Catechetics in terms of evangelization; Suggest newer ways in the adaptation of Catechesis; Adapt to the ecumenical demands of both time and place; Know simple ways and means to catechise, and be aware of the catechetical requirements (at least theoretically) in the mission.
